I was reading the article about the Big Coppitt Fire Chief and I was very upset about the information the article was displaying. The use of the word Nigger I found very offensive along with the lack of knowledge about the fire department. Chief Cassel is the “VOLUNTEER” Fire Chief. You don’t get payed for joining or volunteering. You have to respond to a percentage of “Calls” that the fire department gets toned out for and if you make that percentage then you are reimbersed for the mileage and gas that you use with your OWN vehicle. Also, who is this paper to say who is qualified to respond to incidents. Chief Cassel does not tell people to go to calls. The fire fighter goes at their own disgression. Also, I know Chief Cassel’s son who has spent the last 9 years at the station volunteering and is the Captain of the Department so to says that Mr.Ramsey is more qualified or has equal qualification to Chief Cassel’s son is ludacris. I also think that Chief Cassel should have been called to defend himself with this article. I was very disgusted when I read it.

Once again the liberal media strikes. I find it amazing that even when someone is trying to defuse a situation and keep anyone from being offended he is still considerd to be racist. The bottom line is that if your a white male your a racist.
If you need me I’ll be sitting in the corner not saying anything.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your website. I live in Texas but I am relocating to Key West next year. I visit every few months and I like to keep up with the scene. Thanks BLUE for helping me the through my Key West withdrawals. With your help you will hold me over till my next visit.

  • Hi Venetia, I’m a 30 year resident now living in Costa Rica and every week I put KWTN up on the web so I get to keep up as well. I love it. It’s not TOTALLY keeping my withdrawals at bay, and we love Costa Rica, but it’s a very nice part of my week! Thanks for your comment.

Just read the article by Michael Barnes on the Moving Wall. The link he gave on the page (www.themovingwall.org) does not work for some reason? You get a error message “Service Unavailable”. I tried to find another link, a good one that works, but didn’t have any luck.
Just wanted to let ya know..

    Hi Don,
I just tried it and it worked. Not sure why you’re having trouble. Perhaps there was a problem with it this morning that has since been corrected.
    Thanks,
    Rhonda

Joanna AKA JOJO is the HOTTEST Bartender of the Week I’ve ever seen ! I nominate her Bartender of the Year !! Did you know she is a Master Pizza Chef, her specialty is vegetarian pizzas. Who knew??

  • len battifarano

Esther, who tends bar at both the bull and the Garden of Eden is the best Bartender in the world!! She is wonderful….I come from NYC every year for Fantasy Fest, in part just to see her!

  • Rhonda Saunders

    Hi Len,
You’re right! But Esther was featured a month or two ago.

  • Donna Cephas

Don’t know if you’ve featured her or not, but Jess at the Iguana Cafe on Greene St. is the best bartender in the world!!! She remembers what I drink…she doesn’t get mad when I get “tipsy” and she always appreciates the tip I leave. Also…she’s pretty hot…or so the guys who come into the Iguana have said. Jess is just an all around good girl and I think you should feature her as the Bartender of the Hour/Day/Week/Month/Year!!!

    Hi Joe,

The blog is a bit behind, but when you are at http://www.kwtn.com, scroll down and click “This Week’s Complete Paper” and the full PDF will come up (give it a little time to load, usually under 30 seconds). You can read the paper in full that way.

Thanks for the note and for reading!

    Rhonda Saunders, KWTN
