Florida Keys Community College Trustee Kim Bassett will take the lead in hearing two grievances, including a sexual harassment complaint. But is Bassett able to maintain objectivity when it comes to sexual allegations? I’m asking this question because her husband, Thomas Michael Mulhall, is a convicted sexual offender. He allegedly had enough kiddy porn stored on his computer to turn your stomach. Not that it takes much kiddy porn to turn the stomach of the average adult without a child sex addiction.
Mulhall has been required to register as a sex offender since 1999 when he was convicted on a federal charge of receiving child pornography over the Internet.
While I certainly don’t think Bassett should be held accountable for the actions of another person, I do think she should be held accountable for choosing to stay with a pedophile.
I have to wonder how her experience standing by a sexual deviant colors her ability to consider claims of sexual misconduct that come before the board. Honestly, if she thinks using children as sex objects is a forgivable spousal offense, will sexual harassment claims among adults even warrant serious consideration from her perspective?
Bassett said she will not answer questions regarding personal family matters but that she is committed to being fair. “Based on my experience with human resources, it was suggested by the board attorney that I take the lead. This was further clarified during the meeting in which we were directed that all board members were to review the information and would participate in the discussion unless they recused themselves,” Bassett said. “I am absolutely committed to being fair, objective and independent in my judgment, decisions and performance as an FKCC Trustee. I believe my reputation and work in the Florida Keys speaks for itself.”
The sexual harassment grievance was filed by a female employee against FKCC’s provost, Dr. Randy Charles. Dr. Charles earned the nickname “McBoyfriend” after his serious relationship with another board member, Dr. Antoinette McPherson-Martin, was recently made public.
Trustee McPherson-Martin has recused herself from participating in the review of sexual harassment allegations against her boyfriend. McPherson- Martin is also the sister of former Key West mayor, Morgan McPherson. Then-mayor McPherson admitted calling in a favor to a lobbyist friend to get McSister appointed to the FKCC Board of Trustees after her eleventh-hour application.
Yet another McPherson brother, Michael, was among a group of FKCC administrators who were unhappy with the style of the former president. They needed more board support to have that president ousted. It worked. That president negotiated an exit deal after McSister was appointed to the board. McBrother was promoted last month to interim Dean of Arts and Sciences.
Trustee Bassett’s husband, Tom, has spent time on the FKCC campus, which is not illegal. Pedophiles gotta learn, too. But parents of children at the neighboring grade school, as well as parents of the children who participate in activities on FKCC’s campus deserve to know what one-fifth of the college leadership team next door is comfortable with. Kind of makes the McBrother-McSister- McBoyfriend McRat’s nest seem like child’s play.
Bassett is the CEO of Fisherman’s Hospital in Marathon. Her husband Tom owns and operates the Apple computer store–Macintosh Systems Solutions–on Truman Ave. in Key West. They reside in Marathon.

Randy and Mc-Sister need to go, the school is going to the dogs.
Anywhere else on the planet these two would be fired, a direct negative about Larry Tyree for not taking action on this serious ethics concern.
This and the previous story need to go to Rick Scott’s office, it was a shady deal from the start with Mc-Sister.

The Director of HR is a joke. She has been in bed with the bubbas since the lynching of Dr. Boyle. She is either grossly incompetant, completely corrupt or both. She needs to resign immediately. My kids will never go to that college.

They are all related to one another by blood,sex or corrupt politics. Debbie Leonard is related to her daughter Amber Ernst-leonard, Michelle Cherry is somehow related to Lydia Estenoz who we all know is politically in bed with the McPherson brother, mayor, sister-provost crowd, they are closely tied to the two Malsheimers, it was rumored that the provosts last secretary was his sweetheart for a spell until he had to get her out of the way (promotion and moved to another building) in order to pursue Antoinette…then you have the head of IT rumored to be very close to provost and antoinette, even jogging as a threesome…hmmm…wonder what else they do together…On the other side those who supported Dr Boyle seems to “not get renewed” demoted or harassed into quitting….it is repulsive, I would not want my child to think that this is okay, or even tolerable. He will be going to school up north when the time comes.
Another thing…if Board of Trustees Kim Bassett’s Husband Tom is a computer pedophile how is it he owns the Macintosh COMPUTER store in Key West??? How is that possible and legal? Now he has all the kiddie porn at his fingertips! Is he video taping our kids when they come in his store? They need to post his picture at the schools and college so that teens and their parents know he is there. Does he visit his wife at the Fishermans hospital? Does he cruise through the childrens ward? Are there no limits?
I understand that Kim’s boss has just been accused of stalking. What is with this place? These people do not belong in the public sector unless it is jail. The Keys are riddled with corrupt public sector employees, notice I did not say workers.
