For over 17 years I’ve felt a certain sense of security knowing that the Blue Paper was around keeping tabs on local politics and exerting pressure on local government officials to keep things on the “up and up”.
The reality is, the Blue Paper has become an integral part of the mix. It’s safe to say that without it Key West would not have it’s Citizens Review Board, Wisteria Island would already look like Sunset Key Two and a whole lot of City elections would have turned out quite differently.
The Blue Paper and thickskinned guys like Dennis Reeves Cooper, who are ready and willing to tick off those in power, don’t grow on trees. We almost lost the Blue Paper a few weeks back. That was a wake-up call for me and many others who spontaneously lent our financial support. So, the Blue Paper lives on— for the time being.
After seventeen years of free local news, my husband and I felt very comfortable making a donation. The opportunity to show support continues.
